The New York State Thruway Authority is girding for the great leap forward: all-electronic tolling.

The authority, which pioneered E-ZPass in the metropolitan region 20 years ago, now wants to eliminate toll booths from Yonkers to Harriman and parlay the technology into non-stop travel over the Thruway's busiest 45 miles - including the Tappan Zee Bridge.
